Battle Creek, MI

So...we got our rock star bus last night and it's AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Paul and I don't have bunks across from eachother which we had been hoping for, but it's ok. We both got top bunks so at least that worked out according to plan. The bus has satellite TV in both the front and back lounges, personal DVD players in each bunk with wireless headphones and wireless internet. Plus we have a kitchen and a bathroom where the rules are you can't go number 2 and no flushing toilet paper, gotta throw it away in the garbage. It's not total luxury, but still pretty fantastic! Here are some pics...

The first pic is the front lounge/kitchen with a view into the sleeping area where paul is straddling the two middle bunks in order to access his top bunk (you will see a close up of this in photo 4). Photo 2 is our bathroom, please take note of the brown shag toilet cover. I love it!
Photo 3 is the back lounge and if you ignore the light of the flash in the mirror you can also see the whole space in the reflection. Photo 4 is the close up of Paul trying to get his bunk together.

It is currently raining here in Battle Creek which stinks, but before the rain started I went on a walk around town with our stage manager, Kevin, and no lie, the town smells like cereal. This is the cereal capital and we are across the street from the Kellogg factory and our venue for the show is the Kellogg Arena. The scent changes depending on what they are making and I swear that today was cocoa puffs (although I'm not sure if they are a Kellogg product, if not, some other chocolatey cereal).
Paul left this afternoon to go home to Seattle until friday and I miss him already. I'm glad he will be back for my birthday on Saturday though!
I'm off to enjoy my green tea from Starbucks (the starbucks in the hotel is the largest in all of Michigan) and watch a little ABC Family. Just like home!

Thanks for stopping by!

and off we go!

Sorry for the delay, but tech week and opening were a tad crazy. We are still in York, PA, but only for another hour. Next stop...Battle Creek, MI! Unfortunately, my roomie Paul has to go home to Seattle for a couple of days so I will be flying solo. I'm going to use the time to catch up on my dance captain responsibilities and will be writing out all of the choreography for the show. So exciting I know! Anyhoo, I have some new photos for you! This photo is the view from Center Stage at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center here in York at the Penn State York campus.

This next photo is of Paul and I on our way to
the opening night party where we schmoozed and noshed with the creators, writers, producers, choreographers, cast members, tech crew and other friends. Let me just say this, there was a mashed potato bar...what else could a girl ever need?

Moving on, I know the anticipation has been killing you, but here it is....
I'm the egg. Paul and Shawn are flanking me as flowers in the Forrest of the Flighty Fairy. Let me tell you one thing, the babies LOVE it! Thinking back to the shows I've done and the array of costumes I've had to wear and I have to say that this one is definitely the most flattering to my figure. Do you agree?

So the show opened friday night and saturday morning Shane and Courtney came to visit me and see the show! It was SO great to see some familiar faces and catch up on all the news from back home. After the second show I had to go to photo call, but after that Courtney, Paul, Shane and I had a lovely dinner at the hotel and then hung out at the bar for a while. While at dinner Shane gave me my birthday present since we are not going to see each other for the special occasion. He has definitely outdone himself and reconfirmed that I am the luckiest girl in the world! After a awesome night of hanging out and lots of laughing, waking up this morning was rough. Poor Courto had to drive back to NYC and then go to 2 rehearsals today! Oy vey! Here's a lovely pic of us right before they left. I'm just going to say this, we look a LOT better than we were feeling.

So now it's time to say goodbye because I gotta get my stuff together and get ready to get on our rockstar bus. Word on the street is that each bunk has its own personal DVD player. Sweet! There will be pics to come!

Ciao!

At the beginning

Welcome to my blog!

I thought I would start this while I'm on tour to keep everyone informed of my travels!

So...some may not be so up to date of my whereabouts, but I am on tour with the Backyardigans as the female ensemble and dance captain. My counterpart in the show, Paul (who is also my roo
mate), is amazing. He's adorable, talented, funny and has the most awe-inspiring sway back I have ever seen.

In the show I play a footman, a pile of boxes, an egg and the tushy of a dragon. The dream is coming true!!! I don't have pics of everything yet, but here's me and Paul as the footmen and the dragon...don't forget...I'm the tushy...

Right now we are in
York, PA teching the show. Today, Paul and I spent the day in and out of a dragon. Needless to say we are exhausted and in need of a massage.

Shane is in NYC working his tushy off (while I portray a tushy) and I miss him like crazy. Mom and dad are in Peru and heading to the Galapagos and Brad is working like a madman keeping the streets of New York clean.

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for future adventures as Alissa Goes Big Across America.
